I stopped by the PayPal stand at LeWeb12 for a quick demo of their new check-in app. Such an app is not new, we've had stuff like Foursquare for some while. The current crop of check-in apps have been widely criticised for being of no practical use. When I approached the guys at PayPal and asked them about their check-in service, asking if it was like Foursquare, they quipped "yes, only our app is actually useful".
