Where responsibility becomes impact

Digital technology has the power to tackle major environmental and social challenges, and with that power comes responsibility. That’s why Corporate Social Responsibility is not a separate initiative; it is embedded in how we operate every day. Aligned with the Orange Group, our actions are driven by an ethical and sustainable approach to generate value for customers, employees, and society.

Lead the Future: The Orange strategic blueprint

Lead the Future, the strategic plan launched by the Orange Group in February 2023, sets out a new business model guided by environmental, social and governance considerations. Our commitments, actions and capabilities have garnered recognition and certifications from external organizations.

ESG in action

Jérôme Goulard, Chief Sustainability Officer at Orange Business, explains our pillars in more detail, how we identify our core priorities from defining ESG criteria to our carbon budget, and what we do to monitor our activities and achieve our targets.

Industry certifications and regulatory frameworks

To ensure transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement across CSR and sustainability performance, we embed recognized standards across operations, supply chains, and reporting practices.

Key certifications and assessments:

  • EcoVadis: Regularly assessed for overall ESG performance
  • CDP: Evaluated on climate strategy and decarbonization progress
  • ISO 14001: Certified environmental management system
  • Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi): Greenhouse gas reduction targets aligned with climate science to limit global warming

Regulatory frameworks:
Compliance with major European requirements – CSRD, EU Taxonomy, TCFD, and Duty of Vigilance laws – ensures robust ESG reporting, climate risk management, and responsible supply chain governance.

However, because it is “always on”, cloud also consumes large amounts of electricity. Transitioning to more sustainable cloud computing is imperative, and Orange Business is committed to it as part of our support for responsible digital practices.

How Orange Business is helping you cope with climate change

When we sat down with the operations leader of a large enterprise, he recounted how a sudden flood had forced them to shut down a critical manufacturing facility for several weeks. He said his team had focused on responding to disasters rather than planning for them. Climate change was not on the boardroom agenda until it hit them directly. From this, you can see there is no escaping the fact that shifts in our planet’s weather patterns are starting to test organizations' agility and preparedness for the frequency and intensity of natural disasters. It is paramount that they act now to secure long-term resilience.
