Having a corporate Wi-Fi coverage that optimizes the employee experience
Since 2021, all 2,300 Bricoman employees have been equipped with smartphones. Thanks to their devices, they perform a multitude of tasks daily, including managing orders, checking product availability, and monitoring stock status. They have easy access to a range of business applications directly from their phones.
Over time, Bricoman’s management team recognized that their Wi-Fi network was no longer sufficient to support their employees’ needs. Connectivity issues such as outages and slowdowns became increasingly frequent. "It became crucial to overhaul our entire network infrastructure to deploy a reliable and efficient Wi-Fi system that meets all operational demands," explains Nordine Chouita, CTO of Bricoman. "No matter where they are in the store, our employees must be able to respond quickly and effectively to our customers."
This prompted the company to rethink its entire Wi-Fi deployment across the enterprise. With a significant goal: to equip 40 sites throughout France, taking into account the configuration of each location.
Objectives
In a distribution network like Bricoman, Wi-Fi is essential for both employees and customers
Tailored enterprise Wi-Fi deployment using Cisco Meraki solutions
Bricoman and Orange Business had already collaborated on a project ten years ago. Facing this new challenge and satisfied with the previous experience, the brand decided to call on Orange Business experts. They supported the company at every stage of the project.
“We worked in co-creation with Bricoman's teams, both during the preparation phase, deployment, and testing of the sites,” notes Stéphane Hudela, Head of sales for connectivity – Retail at Orange Business. This approach enabled the development of a scalable, responsive, and secure digital infrastructure.
Bricoman's managers could have simply improved the existing setup. However, they chose instead to opt for a Wi-Fi coverage perfectly tailored to the company and configuration of each site. The Cisco Meraki solution was the most suitable for this purpose.
“We decided not to fix the existing system but to start from scratch,” confirms Nordine Chouita. “Each store benefited from a custom design, while also aligning with a CSR approach. Indeed, whenever possible, the cables from the old solution were reused for the new one. To ensure zero-fault connectivity, no detail was left to chance.”
“We conducted comprehensive cabling audits and Wi-Fi coverage studies before and after deployment to guarantee high-quality coverage,” explains Stéphane Hudela.
As a result, the number of Wi-Fi access points was tripled, and the cabling was completely redesigned. Orange Business experts also successfully addressed a key constraint: the migration had to be carried out overnight, quickly, to avoid impacting store operations—a seamless deployment for users.
Impeccable enterprise Wi-Fi coverage for users and simple for administrators
Another strong point is, "thanks to the simplicity of the graphical interface, devices are automatically recognized as soon as they are plugged in," adds Stéphane Hudela.
Thanks to Cisco Meraki Wi-Fi, managing the solution has become effortless for Bricoman. For employees, the overall experience has been entirely transformed since the Wi-Fi deployment across the company. "In short, we have a reliable, efficient, and truly user-friendly cloud solution," exclaims Nordine Chouita. "Today, our employees can perform all their tasks: managing stock, placing orders, calling a colleague in the store, or even contacting a supplier."
No more interruptions or areas without connectivity thanks to a robust digital infrastructure. "We are completely satisfied with this new Wi-Fi coverage in our stores, which allows our employees to respond more quickly to all our customers’ needs," concludes the CTO of Bricoman—a successful gamble.
