It all started when they identified a vulnerability in the market. Digital threats from criminal organizations and foreign state actors are growing rapidly. Sensitive information must be protected, and organizations need to be prepared for the possibility that their IT platforms could be disrupted or taken offline. However, security is about much more than encrypted data and secure storage. Equally important are user management and access control, as well as ensuring that data storage and processing remain under national control.
Custom Kubernetes platform in a Sovereign Cloud
Skytale and Orange Business worked closely over an intensive week to set up a secure, flexible solution with Managed Kubernetes at its core. Orange Business delivered the entire platform on a Sovereign Cloud—a Norwegian cloud solution with local data storage and operations.
With support from our Core Platform team, Skytale received a preconfigured Kubernetes runtime with lifecycle management, monitoring, and incident management.
Skytale retains full control of its applications and core services, with the flexibility to extend automation on its own, while Orange Business handles operations and security behind the scenes.

“Normally, when you enter these processes, you spend weeks on contracts and negotiations, but here we were connected to the technical team right away, and they started working on a solution to get it up and running as quickly as possible. We quickly agreed that their managed Kubernetes service was what we needed,” says Jan Ivar Øyulvstad, CTO at Skytale.
“The core services are operated by Orange Business, while we have the flexibility to run our own automation on top of them. It was a very smooth process. We now have an application that we fully control. Together with Orange Business, we also manage the backend applications. We control the core services, how they are operated, and who operates and maintains them.
