In crisis situations like the lockdown, communication is crucial for healthcare professionals. They must be able to seamlessly coordinate, provide effective care for the sick and rapidly make the right decisions.

On the front line in the battle against COVID-19, Groupe Hospitalier de Bretagne Sud needed to circulate information remotely to a huge number of doctors: not only to its own doctors across a dozen sites, but also to family doctors across the country and even overseas.

The hospital group’s IT department did not have the resources needed at all of its sites to set up videoconferencing systems.

XXL conferences

Orange Business recommended the Cisco Webex videoconferencing solution, which was set up in just two days. The solution is easy to install and is compatible with most videoconferencing systems. It is highly reliable and allows up to 3,000 participants to attend an event online. The organizer just needs to send a link via email.

The Cisco Webex solution emerged as a real asset during the pandemic, in terms of both operations and governance. It was used to remotely organize weekly briefings with doctors regarding the pandemic as well as medical committees with directors. This highly dynamic videoconferencing service offers the ability to chat with participants and share presentations on screen. It is also possible to send surveys or questionnaires to participants to coordinate meetings and help with discussions.

Our technical and IT services teams were able to quickly and easily set up this videoconferencing solution. At the height of the pandemic, we were able to hold meetings with over one hundred people who attended from their offices or homes to maintain social distancing, and everyone was very impressed.

Supporting the customer before, during and after conferences

Orange Business offered end-to-end support to Groupe Hospitalier de Bretagne Sud to help their users get to grips with the tool. This was achieved with the help of the Orange Events team.

"Our technical and IT services teams were able to quickly and easily set up this videoconferencing solution. At the height of the pandemic, we were able to hold meetings with over one hundred people who attended from their offices or homes to maintain social distancing, and everyone was very impressed,"  said Philippe Condominas, Chairman of the Groupe Hospitalier de Bretagne Sud Medical Committee.

Further collaboration

Building on this successful experience, Groupe Hospitalier de Bretagne Sud is still using the Cisco Webex solution. Doctors no longer need to drive twenty miles or more to attend a committee meeting. It has also rolled out the solution to all departments.

In addition to videoconferencing, they are now using other features of the service, such as document sharing, to collaborate even more effectively.
