Geertrui Mieke De Ketelaere
Geertrui Mieke De Ketelaere is Adjunct Professor of Artificial Intelligence at Vlerick Business School. She holds a Master’s degree in Civil and Industrial Engineering, with a specialization in robotics and artificial intelligence.
Over the past 30 years, she has worked with leading multinationals such as IBM, Microsoft, SAP, and SAS, covering all aspects of data and analytics. Her consulting expertise lies in defining the AI business canvas — from identifying potential value to managing predefined risks. With a deep understanding of the hindsight, insight, and foresight of AI technologies, she often acts as an expert advisor and coach behind the scenes.
In her public talks and recent book, she focuses on demystifying the hype around AI, promoting sustainable and ethical approaches. In 2020, she was appointed “Digital Mind” by Belgium’s Secretary of State for Digitalization, Mathieu Michel. In 2024, she was named “IT Person of the Year” in Belgium.
Today, Mieke continues to share her vision of trustworthy AI through international conferences, media appearances, and thought leadership.
