Airline industry turns to virtualization and RFID

The airline industry has been on a rollercoaster ride over the past decade: a long boom, a sharp contraction, market consolidation and record oil prices followed by global downturn has left the industry in a state of shock. Technology could be an answer to many of these woes: RFID, server virtualisation, e-ticketing and near field communications offer huge potential for reducing costs and improving travellers' enjoyment.
