From legacy systems to a future-oriented platform

Santander was struggling with old legacy systems and an outdated platform architecture. The previous service provider didn't deliver the business agility required by its lines of business, impacting its ability to develop and roll out new customer services.

The goals Santander wanted to achieve

Replace legacy systems with a modern cloud platform
Ensure high availability and scalability
Increase business flexibility for new customer services
Simplify operations through a dedicated partner

Santander modernised its IT platform and achieved 99,8% guaranteed availability.

End-to-end operations and hybrid cloud solutions from Orange Business

The operation of the entire service platform was outsourced to Orange Business, including data centre, operating systems, applications and middleware.

A dedicated platform is distributed across multiple data centres in the Orange Business Cloud. This is a private cloud based on VMware, with access to hyperscale infrastructure services.

The platform runs Microsoft Windows technology, where the key applications are MS SQL and SharePoint. The guaranteed availability is 99,8%.

Santander has also started a new digitalisation project with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Office 365.

Results that give Santander flexibility and stability

Santander now has a highly flexible platform with the ability to scale across different infrastructure platforms such as Orange Business Sovereign Cloud and Microsoft Azure.

The platform is stable and designed to deliver 100% availability as customers expect.

A dedicated customer team works closely with IT and local businesses to support the development and implementation of new customer services through cloud platforms.

A robust and flexible platform gives Santander the confidence to develop the banking services of the future.
