Lufthansa Systems signs global services contract with Orange Business Services

Orange Business Services manages infrastructure in more than 100 countries
Lufthansa Systems, one of the world’s leading IT providers for the airline and
aviation industry, has signed a 42-month global services contract with Orange
Business Services. This contract covers maintenance of the IT infrastructure in
more than 100 countries.
With more than 3,000 employees at numerous sites in Germany and branches in 16
countries, Lufthansa Systems offers solutions covering all airline business processes.
For the introduction of next-generation IT equipment at worldwide locations of
its key accounts Lufthansa German Airlines and Lufthansa Cargo, the airline IT
specialist was looking for a service provider that had a global coverage and top
quality services.
“Throughout the entire project, Orange Business Services was always able to react
very flexibly to ongoing changes,” said Dr. Hannes Pfister, senior vice president
Infrastructure Services at Lufthansa Systems. “Orange Business Services had already
demonstrated a very good performance in previous projects. Having seen the first
phases of implementations, we are very pleased with the performance of Orange
Business Services so far.”
The global contract consists of the deployment of standardized IT infrastructure
with highly customized services and processes with onsite support as well as logistics
for nearly 20,000 units of IT equipment, such as laptops, desktops, servers and
printers. Orange Business Services’ main task is the onsite support of the entire
IT equipment that will be rolled out at Lufthansa and Lufthansa Cargo worldwide.
Faulty or broken units have to be repaired or exchanged within a stringent time
frame in order to support business critical IT systems, such as ticket and boarding
pass printers.
A global project team has been set up, capable of handling a wide variety of
tickets, including related incidents, moves, adds and changes on a daily basis.
The team is coordinating in close contact with Orange worldwide Field Service
centers sending out technicians onsite as soon as possible to replace broken equipment.
