Lannet announces new partnership with Orange Business Services
Athens, 21st June 2007
Supports launch of broadband services in Greece.
Lannet announced today a new partnership with Orange Business Services to support
its ambition of becoming the telecom service provider of choice in Greece. The
partnership also includes a distribution agreement which will give Lannet customers
full access to global Orange Business Services solutions via the Lannet network.
Orange Business Services, part of the France Telecom Group, will build a new telecom
network infrastructure and associated services which will support Lannet’s deployment
of integrated internet, voice and predefined internet content packages for the
Greek residential market.
The new core and access network will be triple play ready (data, voice and video).
It will enable Lannet to offer advanced integrated residential, small office and
enterprise services to the Greek market through DSL and WiMax access. In addition,
the agreement includes the provision of marketing, sales and product development
support.
Lannet expects the penetration of consumer DSL/broadband to rise from 10% today
to 24% by 2010. Focussing on small and medium enterprises and the consumer market,
Lannet will make significant investments in its network to bring new broadband
internet, integrated voice and value added services to the mass market at higher
quality standards and much faster than its competitors. This will bring new revenue
streams and increased market share for Lannet which expects to launch these new
internet services by October 2007.
Orange Business Services will design and build the customized broadband network
to support Lannet’s offer to the market, under a tailored offering called Solutions
for Operators, which is designed for organizations aspiring to become next-generation
service providers. Solutions for Operators will allow Lannet to rapidly bring
to market converged communications and innovative new services. Orange Business
Services’ broadband network design also includes the use of Orange’s residential
“Livebox” which is “plug and play” enabled allowing customers to enjoy communication,
information and entertainment adapted to their personal needs. The Livebox is
the key component of a home network enabling customers to surf the Web, watch
digital television, make telephone calls over the internet and communicate using
videophones or play games over the internet.
Mr. Lanaras President and CEO of Lannet Communications said "our ambition and
target is to become the leading integrated operator and content provider in Greece.
With this agreement we have the potential to develop and dynamically promote triple
play services in all our addressable markets (Residential, SME and enterprise
markets). Lannet has a clear view of the telecom environment and will continue
its efforts to become a quadruple play services provider.
The Livebox is a unique and stable platform that is bundled with value added
services provided by France Telecom. The Lannet offerings are designed in cooperation
with France Telecom and they will allow the enhancement of the broadband services
with features like parental control and a broad range of supported devices".
