Redesigns existing homogenous MPLS to an adaptive network
Schaffner signed a 4-year, $2.4 million contract with Orange Business Services for an adaptive network.
Schaffner, the international leader in electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and power quality, had its existing homogenous MPLS (multiprotocol label switching) network redesigned by Orange Business Services into an adaptive, or hybrid, VPN. The new, future-proof adaptive network connects 20 sites in 14 countries. Two Internet gateways including security have been implemented in London and Singapore and IP dial was implemented as well.
“Adaptive Network from Orange Business Services met Schaffner’s goal to have a harmonized, flexible and stable infrastructure that would meet our current and future needs,” said Hans-Peter Birneder, CIO Schaffner.
Cost reduction and higher bandwidth
Orange Business Services’ solution includes a technology refresh as well as higher bandwidth. Due to pricing exercises, costs can be minimized and all of Schaffner’s 20 sites in 14 countries have been qualified and are ready for future needs, e.g. VoIP or Orange Business Services’ mobility solution Business Everywhere. A service team is monitoring the adaptive network through our enhanced site management services that allow customers to have a single view of their communications solution, regardless of the various providers they use.
“Before Adaptive Network, multinational organizations such as Schaffner had to determine a network strategy, focusing on only one or two technologies and accepting to deal with the resulting limitation,” said Serge Adam, vice president and managing director of Orange Business Services in Switzerland. “Now, customers have unlimited possibilities and can tailor their networks site-by-site in order to create the most efficient network possible.”
Schaffner is the international leader in electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and power quality, focusing on high-growth sectors such as the automotive industry, building automation, industrial electronics, consumer goods, aerospace, medical technology, power supplies, telecommunications, transportation, and the public sector. Schaffner develops, produces, and markets standard and customer-specific components and modules. Schaffner strives to secure and expand its leading position through a program of innovation, customer-focused logistics, and cost-efficient practices. Schaffner employs 2,000 people.
