As a single integrated global network, services are fully managed from end-to-end.
Offered on an unrivaled international scale, these include business intranet and
Internet solutions, high performance remote access services over local fixed or
dial-up lines, and many other Wide Area Network services, such as x.25, SNA, Frame
Relay, and ATM.
Core Network
-
Provider (P) routers are the core routers used to interconnect every IP VPN POP.
Orange Business Services' P routers are connected using OC-48 wavelengths or packet
over SONET (POS).
-
The resiliency in the core of network is built using MPLS Traffic Engineering
Fast Reroute sub 50ms restoration of traffic in a failure event.
-
P routers are Cisco Gigabit Switch Routers (12416).
Edge Network
-
Provider edge (PE) routers are locally connected to P routers using Packet over
Sonet (155 Mbps to 622 Mbps). PE routers are the extremities or edge of the network
where customers are physically connected. Customer VPNs are configured at the
PE routers.
-
PE routers are also bi-connected to P routers at diverse POP locations for redundancy.
So if a local segment or P router fails, the PE router maintains connectivity
via a backup link to a diverse POP.
-
PE routers are a mix of Cisco Edge Switch Routers (10008) and Cisco 7500 Series
Routers.
